All to often....

All to often people say that they cannot adopt internationally because it is too expensive to travel overseas to bring a child home, or that they can't leave the family they already have at home. This post is an answer to those excuses. These children already live in the United States where the cost of adopting is significantly lower and you do not have to spend any great deal of time away from your family.

This AMAZING little trooper is ALEX

Alex is a 5 year old boy of chinese heritage currently living in New York. He was born at 26 weeks. He has lived his entire live in medical facilities and institutions .His current medical condition is very stable his medical diagnoses include developmental delays, cerebral palsy, chronic lung disease, GERD and retinopathy of prematurity. He receives all nutrition via G-tube. He is currently in a wheelchair.

Alex is eligible for New York State adoption subsidy assistance. This will automatically provide him with a Medicaid card, usable in every state. Additionally, he will receive a monthly cash entitlement payment. Both components of the adoption subsidy assistance are available to Alex without regard to the income of his adoptive family, and will continue until he is an adult.

Alex’s birth parents have been very involved in his life from the beginning. They are committed to finding him a loving family who can nurture him and care for his many complex needs. They wish to be involved in an open adoption with email communication, pictures and the possibility of visits.

For more information on Alex PLEASE visit the Spence Chapin website at this link, it includes a wonderful video of Alex showing off his wonderful personality.

So this next little bit is in honor of older children who so desperatly need the love and fufillment that a family can bring, and who have more than likely been passed over time and again....
