Twice as Nice

This is Karen. She is 16. When you think of being 16 you think of High School, Football games, slumber parties with your friends, and flirting with cute boys. This has not been Karen's experience as a teenage. Her life for the last 7 years has been being seperated from her little sister and thrown into an orphanage. All of a sudden your life doesnt seem so bad Huh??? This sweet young lady has had so many people praying for her and trying to find her a family. This has yet to work out (Maybe that is because YOU, yes YOU are meant to be her family.)

Karen has a younger sister named Chrystyna who is 10 years old. She was recently transferred out of a mental institution and into a school which is a bigger blessing then I could ever put into words. Chrystyna is suspected to have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, but nothing is confirmed at this time. She may just be delayed from the time she spent in an orphanage.

Since Karen is already 16 the only way that she can be adopted is if her sister is adopted with her as well. These girls have been through so much already it would absolutely WONDERFUL to see them re-united once again in a loving home.

I know many people are scared of adopting older kids but the truth is they are in need of much more guidance and love then you would ever expect. I am 19 years old and knowing that I have my mom to catch me if I fall gives me an incredible peace of mind. Won't you be that Peace for Karen?

They JOY of JAKE

Usually I would sit and write a blog. I would pour my heart into it and try to show you how I feel about a particular situation and I would try to give a child a voice. This blog is different. I am going to let you read JACOB'S words. This is what HE thinks and feels. This is his voice telling his story, so please listen up.

                             http://www.adoptuskids.org/_app/child/viewp.aspx?id=24997

"Dear Family,

My name is Jacob, but I go by Jake. I am 17 years old. My dream is to find a family before I turn 18. Other teenagers might wonder why I would want a mom and dad at this age, or they just complain about their parents, but I think I will get further in life with parents. Teenagers should tough it out and listen to their parents because it’s the right thing to do.

I hope to have a family that will call me and that I could still visit even after I leave home as an adult. I want to spend holidays together. I want parents who will show me what it means to be a family and will help me to know when it is right to have a family of my own one day. I want parents to help me know the right time and right person to marry. I want a model for what a family should be like. I want to learn how to drive, and I love to cook. I want a family to teach me about these things.

I sometimes want to do my own thing, but I remember one of my foster parents who would tell me to do the right things and keep me safe. I hope that a family will do the same for me. I have been through a lot of tough things in my life, and have learned to tough it out.

I am not too old to be adopted. I am just like every one of you who needs the support of parents as I head into the adult world."

Let's spread Jacob's story and make his dream come true.

Before it's too late

Last night I was made aware of the fact that there were several children who still needed families to host them for the summer. I wrote about them Here. Unfortunately not all of them were able to find their families. These are a different set of kids who need the same thing. They need to be "hosted" which means that they come to America and you make them part of your family for 5 weeks. These kids have until Monday to find "host families."  It will cost $2900 per child unless they are in a sibling group in which case it will cost $2,800 per child. I know that it may seem like a lot but all of these kids have financial scholarships to help cut the cost. These kids are available for adoption, but that is nota requirement  if you decide to get involved in this program.

HOST ME

I know that many of you want to adopt but at may currently not have the financial resources to do so, or maybe you are still unsure if adoption is for you. If that is the case then I have the perfect solution HOSTING. You may not know what that means, so please allow me to explain. If you choose to host a child (which a really really really really hope you do) That means that you will invite a particular child or sibling group to become part of your family for 5 weeks this summer. Each and every one of these kids are hoping that you grant them their wish to come to America even of for a short time. Some people may be scared that they will let these kids down if they decide not to adopt them, but the truth is each of the children in the orphanage have no choice but to go somewhere for 5 weeks this summer so that they can do maintenance to the orphanage. If they do not come to your home they will go to a camp in their home country which from my understanding the do not like AT ALL. Each and everyone of these child have a grant fund towards the cost of their hosting. These particular kids have until TOMORROW to find a family to host them for the summer. Even if this is not for your family please pass it along. It may be for someone else's. The average cost for hosting is $2900 per child and $2800 for each child in a sibling group.

Battling for our Boys

My heart breaks so deeply for BOYS.

Sweet boys who have done nothing wrong.

Sweet boys that laugh and smile despite their circumstances.

Boys who are brave and strong.

Boys who are chosen much less often than girls.

Boys who wait and wait and wait.

Boys who often wait until the day the die still holding out hope for 1 thing....LOVE.

As you look at each of these boys I ask you to remember that despite their gender, or age, or so called "disability" they were each beautifully and wonderfully made.

Don't allow yourself to buy the excuse that they are not our problem or responsibility.

Don't allow yourself to believe that someone else will come get them one day.

Most of us have been GIVEN the opportunity to live our lives, but these precious boys have EARNED it.

They have fought tooth and nail for their little lives and deserve to be
able to live them to their fullest.

As I look at each of their amazing faces I cannot even begin to imagine the lives that they have lived and most days I don't want to.

The amount of suffering that most of these kids go through is far to excruciating for me to even begin to comprehend.

So please take a moment to look at each of their beautiful faces, and stare deeply into the wonderful eyes, and realize just how truely blessed you are.

We are without a doubt these boys' only hope. So scream for them as loud and for as long as you can. They are counting on you.
